Woman Without
Parents
Wise
name-giving elder I ask in fear last summer what name Great Spirit give
me. I want to keep name mother gave me, Gentle Breeze. I want to keep
also Be-The-Magic-One name from Grandma because as child so much love Walt
Disney.
Tradition says if teachable and humble and to become wise must follow what
elders say. This elder say to this woman after many months to
“go now to secret place your mother has shown you. Use only the
secret paths and avoid park rangers. When you are there, seek a
vision for this matter. You will be happy, as we will also be.
Do not have any fear, for the Creator is with you”.
I was confused because not get then name from Great Spirit.
In mountain shelter from cold and wind after three days fast no sleep only
water this vision come. It come when go first between worlds then
into spirit world. A woman with child inside stands next to me.
She has peace and serenity. I say
“Have you not fear? It is cold with wind maybe snow deep. What
of this child. If child is born now, she will certainly die.”
She say
“How did you know child was girl?”
I say, not really knowing answer,
“I am girl child becoming woman”.
She say
“Where are your parents then, Girl-Child-Becoming-Woman”.
I say
“I have no parents on earth and look for them in
spirit world”.
She say,
“Creator has given all wisdom to ‘Child-Without-Parents’, you will now
always be called ‘Woman-Without-Parents’ as Creator wishes”.
I say,
“Do you know where mother and father are?”
She says,
“Fear always hides and must be found to be comforted."
